Announcing the Release of the All Campus Climate Survey Report
Dear Students, Faculty and Staff, Last fall, I announced the launch of a campuswide effort to provide us with the data needed to further assess our campus climate. Today, I am pleased to announce the release of the All Campus Climate Survey report, assembled from data collected in fall 2023. You can view and download the report at go.illinois.edu/AllCampusSurvey. The purpose of this survey was to better understand the perspectives, attitudes and individual experiences that affect a sense of belonging and inclusion at Illinois. Part of boldly moving this university forward is having the courage to look inward and reflect on how we can continue to make our campus and the surrounding Champaign-Urbana community a place that values and supports the identities, cultures, faiths and perspectives of all members of our community. The response rate was impressive, with 18% of the eligible undergraduate students responding, 23% of graduate students, 49% of faculty and 53% of staff. This report is only the beginning of our process to review, assess and act to improve the sense of belonging for every member of the Illinois community. During spring 2025, we will host events to delve more deeply into the report data. Those events will culminate with a Campus Climate Summit at the end of the spring semester, with opportunities for students, faculty and staff to contribute. Information about the spring events is available on the All Campus Climate Assessment website. I extend my gratitude to the staff at Disability Resources and Educational Services (DRES) for their significant help to make this report accessible for our university community. Staff in the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning (CITL) are also developing a data dashboard that will provide the university community with an additional tool with which to understand the data in more detail. We will provide an update when the dashboard is live this spring. My sincere thanks go to each of you who responded to the survey. Your active participation holds us accountable to the commitments that we articulate each and every day. With the release of this report, we recommit Illinois to being an institution unafraid to critically and honestly examine its past to shape a more strategic and more equitable future for everyone. I hope that you can take time to review this report and attend some of the events planned for the spring. Sincerely, Robert J. Jones |
