Street closures for Thursday night football game

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Our Fighting Illini football team will host Eastern Illinois University at 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29. Street closures in advance of the game may disrupt your regular commute, and you might anticipate more traffic than usual if you are driving on campus Thursday afternoon. 

Game Day Street Closures

The following closures start at 1 p.m. Thursday:

  • Kirby Avenue between First Street and Fourth Street
  • First Street between Irwin Drive and Kirby Avenue

The following closure starts at 3 p.m. Thursday:

  • Peabody Drive between First Street and Fourth Street

The following closures start at 4:30 p.m. Thursday:

  • Kirby Avenue closed at Oak Street
  • Fourth Street between Kirby Avenue and Peabody Drive
  • First Street between Stadium Drive and St. Mary's Road
  • St. Mary's Road between Oak Street and First Street
  • Pennsylvania Avenue between Fourth and Sixth streets (access to the E-15 parking structure will be maintained)

Parking Information

All university employees with parking permits on a closed route will still be allowed to park in their normal lots and will be let out at the end of their workdays. Additional information about game day details and parking for visitors to the football game is available on the Fighting Illini Athletics website.
