Federal Directives
Dear faculty and staff, As we receive questions about recent federal directives, we wanted to clarify the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign’s approach to federal regulations and what, if any, implications new policies will have on higher education. As we do with all new laws, orders and regulations from any level of government, we diligently review the details with our experts to understand what impact they will have on faculty, staff and students. Until we can review the details, please do not take action based on speculation and continue to operate as you have been. The university leadership will make recommendations about how to move forward in a way that is consistent both with the law and the essential values that are cornerstones of our university. Public universities have long been a place to engage in complex and nuanced civic debate, and that will always be a core part of our mission as a public land-grant university. We have always been profoundly moved by our collective ability to demonstrate compassion for all of our fellow campus community members. Sincerely, Robert J. Jones John Coleman |
