University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Chancellor Robert Jones to step down
Dear colleagues, As you likely have heard, Robert Jones announced his plan to step down as chancellor of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and vice president of the University of Illinois System at the end of this academic year. Chancellor Jones has led your world-class, flagship university for what will be nine years and to call this period of growth and advancement a success would be an understatement. Read our full press release which will be distributed later this morning. I have asked Chancellor Jones to remain with the U of I System to employ his considerable experience on strategic initiatives related to expanding the system and Urbana-Champaign’s role and presence in Chicago; international partnership opportunities; and support for the search for a worthy successor to become the next chancellor.
