Launch of the Illinois Global Strategy & Global Summit on Oct. 19
October 6, 2022 11:00 AM

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students,

For more than 150 years, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has been changing the world. As we look ahead to the future, we are pleased to unveil “Vision 2030: Illinois’ Global Strategy,” a seven-year plan for enhancing global learning and engagement at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Vision 2030 emerged from a multi-year process, beginning with the 2018 Globalization task force that was charged with developing recommendations for the campus strategic plan, The Next 150. Building on that foundation, Vision 2030 outlines specific actions we will take to expand and create comprehensive global learning, teaching, research and engagement opportunities for our students, faculty and staff—dedicating significant efforts and resources to engagement on the African continent, Latin America, and parts of Asia that are currently underrepresented in the university’s global profile.

We will celebrate the launch of this plan during the Global Summit, a symposium that brings together international and national keynote speakers, as well as campus experts, in engaging panel discussions and networking sessions. The Global Summit will be held on Wednesday, October 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the I-Hotel & Conference Center. Registration is required by Oct. 11 to attend and space is limited.

If you are unable to attend the Global Summit, we invite you to explore the Vision 2030 website or tune in to the Global Summit livestream on October 19 at https://go.illinois.edu/GlobalSummit.

If you will need disability-related accommodations in order to participate in the program, please contact Illinois International (217-333-6104) or international@illinois.edu. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time to meet your access needs.

We look forward to working with the campus community to achieve the goals outlined in Vision 2030.

Sincerely,

Robert J. Jones
Chancellor
