Students,

Illinois' Primary Election is Tuesday, March 20, during Spring Break.  Voting is your right and your responsibility.  If you wish to participate in the Primary Election, please review the information below.

Registered at Home: If you are already registered in your home county and wish to remain a voter in that county, you may be able to vote at home, in-person, on Election Day if you are able during Spring Break.  If you will be absent from home, you will need to arrange for an absentee ballot. Your County Clerk can provide guidelines for voting absentee.

Not Registered at Current Address in Champaign County:  If you are not currently registered in Champaign County and would like to register as a voter in Champaign County, or if you have previously registered in Champaign County but have moved and need to update your address, here's what you can do:

1.Register by using convenient voter registration kiosks provided by Champaign County Clerk. Kiosks are located at the southeast corner of the Illini Union from 7:00 AM to Midnight, Sunday through Thursday, and at the lower level of the Undergraduate Library from 7:00 AM to 1:00 AM Friday through Saturday.

2.Register by downloading the form at http://www.champaigncountyclerk.com/elections/docs/nvra.pdf. Then mail or deliver your completed form directly to Champaign County Clerk at 1776 E. Washington St, Urbana, IL  61802.  You must submit a copy of identification with this form.  If you do not, you will be asked to present identification at the polling place Election Day or to submit a copy before receiving an application for absentee ballot.

3.Register in person at the office of Champaign County Clerk, or through a voter registration drive.  For more information about voting in Champaign County go to http://www.champaigncountyclerk.com/elections/voters.html.
The deadline to register to vote for the March 20 Primary Election is February 21.  Please be aware that the office of Champaign County Clerk is closed on February 20 for President's Day.

Registered at Current Address in Champaign County:  if you are registered to vote in Champaign County and want to vote in the March 20 Primary Election, your options are:

1.Vote in person on Election Day in the precinct in which you are registered.  You can verify your voter registration, view a sample ballot and locate your polling place here:  https://www.champaigncountyclerk.com/elections/registration_status.html

2.Vote early, in person, at the office of Champaign County Clerk at 1776 E. Washington Urbana, IL 61802.  You will need to show identification and if you are a first time voter you will need to verify your Champaign County address. Early voting begins February 27 and ends March 15.  You can learn more about early voting here: http://champaigncountyclerk.com/elections/early_voting.html

3.Vote absentee, by mail.  To begin the ballot application process, contact Champaign County Clerk at 217-384-3724, mail@champaigncountyclerk.com or visit http://champaigncountyclerk.com/absentee/absentee_validation.html.   You may need to show identification as a first time voter to verify your Champaign County address.  You will be required to send a copy of identification to the Champaign County Clerk's office before we can send you an Application for Absentee Ballot.
If you are registered to vote in Champaign County, your registration is current, you wish to participate in the March 20 Primary Election, and you will be absent from Champaign County due to Spring Break, please take advantage of absentee or early voting.
