Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce the creation of a new website, http://www.mooc.illinois.edu, which will serve as a resource for faculty, staff, and students interested in our campus efforts in the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) environment.  As was announced last July (http://illinois.edu/lb/article/13/65140), Illinois has partnered with Coursera to offer content from our campus through the Coursera platform.

One resource for faculty members is our official RFP (http://mooc.illinois.edu/faculty/) which outlines the process by which faculty members can have their courses approved for use in Coursera. The process described in the RFP is the only way that faculty members from Illinois can teach their courses on the Coursera platform.

Our first Coursera offering, Introduction to Sustainability (https://www.coursera.org/#course/sustain), was by many measures a great success, not least because it demonstrated how the MOOC platform can help land-grant research universities achieve their historic outreach mission in an important new way.

We are hopeful that our work in the MOOC environment will expand availability of and interest in content from our campus to individuals across the country and around the world. Please visit www.mooc.illinois.edu for updates and more information.
