Members of Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 73 voted to strike for a period of three days starting at midnight, March 11. SEIU members include food service workers, mail messengers, and building service workers on the Urbana campus.

Please be advised that the campus community will experience a disruption/delay to regular building services and to campus mail pick up and delivery. However, Facilities & Services will strive to continue essential services on a limited basis to the campus such as:
   - Locking and unlocking of facilities
   - Stocking restrooms and classrooms
   - Cleaning and removing trash in restrooms.
For the remainder of the week, general custodial services such as trash removal will not be performed in individual offices. If waste receptacles in offices are full, they can be set outside of the office to be emptied at the end of business on Wednesday, March 13. Restrooms will be cleaned when possible starting with high usage facilities.

If you have an immediate need for a service, contact the Service Office 217-333-0340. Additional employees have chosen to honor this strike so other services may be affected. We will continue to respond to emergency and priority requests as quickly as possible. For more details and updates, visit:

We appreciate your understanding and patience.
