With this season’s first accumulation of snow predicted for Central Illinois, Facilities & Services (F&S) will be working to keep the campus open and accessible for students, faculty, and staff.

Campus snow removal is a carefully planned, cooperative effort involving multiple F&S departments and the cities of Champaign and Urbana. This includes the application of brine to streets, parking lots, and sidewalks to help assist with melting snow and ice. All crews will work as quickly as possible to expedite removal.

If assigned parking areas have yet to be plowed following a winter storm, please use the designated emergency lots and Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District (MTD) service (For a list of emergency parking lots see: http://www.fs.illinois.edu/services/maintenance/snow-removal). Please do not park in unplowed lots as it further complicates and delays snow removal efforts.

Your patience and cooperation are appreciated while crews do their best to clear snow. If you have questions about snow removal, contact the F&S Service Office, 217-333-0340.
