INCIDENT: Burglary/Suspicious Activity

The University of Illinois Police Department is seeking your assistance in identifying this person of interest in a burglary and suspicious activity at Lincoln Hall. The picture can be found at: http://police.illinois.edu/images/lincoln1.jpg
BRIEF DETAILS:
On Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 5:54 PM an unknown offender stole 2 security cameras from the center east entrance of Lincoln Hall. The University of Illinois Police Department’s ongoing investigation has produced security camera footage of this subject. The footage shows the subject entering Lincoln Hall just prior to the theft. Once inside Lincoln Hall, this person was behaving suspiciously and exited the building soon after the cameras were removed.
The person of interest is a white male in his 20’s, medium build, with short dark hair. He was last seen wearing a gray hooded zipped sweatshirt, red or orange undershirt, and blue jeans.

POLICE RESPONSE:
The University of Illinois Police Department is working to identify and apprehend the offender. Witnesses to this event or those with information are encouraged to contact the University Police Department at 333-1216 or Crime Stoppers at 373-TIPS (8477).

- Stay alert - call the police immediately to report suspicious activity and/or if this subject is observed.
- Trust your instincts - if it does not feel right, call for help.
- Avoid walking alone at night. Travel in groups when possible and always walk in well-lit, heavily traveled areas.
- Turn down your electronic devices. Excessive volume or use of electronic devices (iPods, PDAs, cell phones, etc.) can distract you from potential safety hazards.
- If you choose to consume alcohol, please drink moderately - remember your ability to respond is diminished by over-consumption of alcohol.
