Dear Members of the Campus Community,

One of Illinois’ strongest assets is its diversity. This diversity enriches our scholarship, emboldens our discussions, and inspires our creativity. Every member of this community shapes our collective identity. Through engaging with our colleagues and peers and sharing our voices—whether in a research lab, classroom, or over lunch on the quad—we are able to fully understand and appreciate the value of our diverse experiences, perspectives, and ideas.

I hope each of you—faculty, staff, and students—will join me in celebrating Inclusive Illinois week from April 7 to April 11. Share your voice as part of the #manyvoices event; attend FashionAble Fundraiser—a fashion show in support of the Division of Disability Resources and Educational Services at the University of Illinois; celebrate through exhibits, music, and food the amazing contributions of women on our campus; hear from a passionate advocate for same-sex marriage as part of the Chancellor’s Lecture Series on Diversity and Cultural Understanding; and end the week with your family and friends at the free tailgate and baseball game as part of Inclusive Illinois Baseball Day as Illinois takes on Michigan. For more information about Inclusive Illinois week, visit inclusiveillinois.illinois.edu.

Thank you for your commitment to an inclusive Illinois and celebrating the many voices that makes up our Illinois community.

Sincerely,

Phyllis M. Wise
Chancellor
