Fellow Students,

I'm excited to announce that the Illinois Student Senate (ISS) has partnered with The White House to launch the It's On Us campaign here at the Univeristy of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. It's On Us focuses on changing the culture around the way studnets think, talk, and act about sexual assault. The campaign calls for students to take on the collective responsiblity to prevent sexual assault in any way possible.

We have launched a Public Service Annoucnement featuring student atheletes that have already taken the It's On Us pledge to stop sexual assault.

The pledge asks studnets to take four main actions:

  1. To recognize that non-consensual sex is sexual assault.
  2. To idenitfy situations in which sexual assault may occur.
  3. To intervene in situations where consent has not or cannot be given.
  4. To create an environment in which sexual assault is unacceptable and survivors are supported.

Join me, and thousands of other students at Illinois and across the nation, in taking the pledge to stop sexual assault at ItsOnUs.org.

After you take the pledge, make sure to share it on Facebook and Twitter and then share the PSA as well. Please also use our social media toolkit or join some of the events happening this week to help spread the campaign even further.

We must realize that no one person can stop sexual assault, but we must rather act together to be more than just bystanders—everyone plays a part in stepping up and intervening to stop sexual assault. You can help make a tremendous impact in our campus community by taking the pledge and spreading the It's On Us message.

In Orange and Blue,
