Dear members of the campus community:

As Chancellor, I am responsible for annually affirming our campus commitment to equal opportunity, affirmative action, and equal access.  This commitment is consistent with my unwavering belief that diversity is central to our mission.  Campus policies prohibit discrimination or harassment of any member of the campus community during any stage of the employment process.  Our affirmative action plan also requires the campus to undertake good faith efforts to increase the representation of women, minorities, persons with disabilities, and protected veterans.  In addition, as part of our compliance with Title IX, the campus prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in employment as well as in admissions, enrollment, and in the provision of all services, programs and activities. The Title IX Office in the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Access oversees and supports the campus commitment to responding to reported incidents of sexual assault, and as part of that process we have created a new website called WeCare (www.wecare.illinois.edu).

I encourage each of you to join me in supporting our campus commitment to diversity and to fostering a welcoming and inclusive community of students, faculty, and staff.  In that spirit, I hope you will participate in events and programs being held from September 26th through October 2nd as part of iunite/Inclusive Illinois week (https://oiir.illinois.edu/events/iunite2015).

Best,

Barbara J. Wilson
Interim Chancellor
