Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to update you on the latest milestone in the new Carle Illinois College of Medicine. The search committee to help us attract the inaugural dean of the College is now in place.

I am pleased to report that Andreas Cangellaris, Dean of the College of Engineering and Jon Bailey, Associate Medical Director Surgical Services, Program Director OMFS Residency at Carle, have agreed to co-chair the committee. A complete list of the search committee members may be found at http://www.medicine.illinois.edu/. Kristi Kuntz, Associate Provost for Academic Programs and Policies, in the Provost’s Office will serve as the staff liaison. The national search will be supported by Witt-Kieffer, an executive search firm that specializes in healthcare and higher education.

The committee’s first task will be to craft a job description for the position. We will share that with you as soon as it is completed. I hope that you will assist the committee by nominating any candidates you think would be promising prospects for this critical leadership role.

I thank the members of the committee for volunteering their time and expertise to this groundbreaking new initiative for our campus. This is the first new college here in more than fifty years and the first of its kind in the nation. I’m confident this committee will help us find the right candidate to lead this effort.

Sincerely,

Edward Feser
Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost
