Dear Campus Community,

As campus leaders wrote earlier today, yesterday’s social media postings titled “Illini White Student Union” called for monitoring African American students who attended a rally on the Quad. As they said, these posts have been pulled from Facebook, but we know that incidents like this create a sense of fear and shake your confidence in the safety of our campus.

Please know there are many resources on campus to ensure your safety and to address incidences of bias and discrimination. Report acts of intolerance to the Office of the Dean of Students at 217-333-0050, tolerance@illinois.edu or go.illinois.edu/intolerance (for anonymous reporting) or contact the Office of Diversity, Equity and Access at 217-333-0885 (http://diversity.illinois.edu).

The cultural and resource centers will be available today, tomorrow and after the holiday break for any students who need a safe space for support and conversation.

Our university police department is continuing to monitor this situation, and we will thoroughly investigate and respond to any credible threats. If you ever have any concerns about your personal safety, contact us immediately.

Sincerely,

Jeff Christensen
Chief of Police

Ken Ballom
Dean of Students

Gigi Secuban
Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
