Students,

As we begin a new semester, I want to make sure that you are aware of the resources available to help educate about, prevent, support those impacted by, and respond to sexual misconduct.

I hope you will take a few minutes to learn about these resources by visiting the We Care website at http://www.wecare.illinois.edu/.  We created this website to provide a one-stop resource for students, faculty, staff, parents and community members, with information about confidential and non-confidential resources, reporting options, university policies, and disciplinary procedures.

I’m also writing to inform you that we have named Assistant Dean Amy Thomson to serve as our Title IX Coordinator on an interim basis.  Ms. Thomson has a great deal of expertise in this area.  She has been integrally involved in our campus' ongoing efforts to further develop and clarify Title IX processes and procedures, including leading the work group that created the We Care website, and has worked supporting students through the Student Assistance Center.  For more information about the Title IX Coordinator’s role and her contact information, please see http://wecare.illinois.edu/titleix/.

I am confident in the resources, policies, and procedures we have established to address sexual misconduct on our campus.

I will let you know when a permanent Title IX Coordinator has been appointed following a nationwide search.  I appreciate your help as we all work together on this very important issue.
