Dear Campus Community:

I invite all faculty, staff and students to attend one of three open meetings in March to discuss the budgeting process and actions that the campus is taking in response to diminishing state funding. There will be three sessions offered at different days, times and locations to make it easier for you to find one that fits your schedule.

I will be leading these presentations, which will include a question-and-answer and discussion period. The formal presentation portion of each session will be the same.

The meetings will include information on 1) the trends in state support for the university, including for benefits, pension and MAP grants for students, 2) the budget planning currently being done by colleges and administrative units, and 3) a new initiative to reform the campus budgeting approach.

  • Budget Sessions
  • March 9 (Wed.), 3-4 p.m., National Center for Supercomputer Applications, Auditorium
  • March 14 (Mon.), 11:30 a.m. - 12:30p.m., Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology, Room 612
  • March 17 (Thurs.), 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Illini Union, Room A

For non-exempt civil service employees, these budget sessions are “approved events,” meaning that, operations permitting and with prior supervisory approval, non-exempt civil service employees may attend without loss of pay and without having to charge a benefit.

Sincerely,

Edward Feser
Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost
