Energy Alert Advisory ā Implement Energy Reduction Strategies and Take Action Immediately
MISO (Midcontinent Independent System Operator) has established a Maximum Generation Emergency Event, effective from noon until 9 p.m. (CST) today for the regional electric grid. In response to this MISO emergency notification, campuswide load reduction must be taken immediately this afternoon to conserve energy to the greatest extent possible. This includes departments, colleges, institutes, and units at the building level initiating their Event Day Action Plans, submitted as a part of the Electrical Grid Response Strategies, to curtail energy usage in facilities to the absolute minimum. In addition to the plans, everyone should make individual and team efforts wherever possible, which include:
F&Sā Utilities & Energy Services division is already implementing centralized energy reduction strategies and managing on-campus electrical production capacity in preparation for the MISO event. For questions, please contact the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Specialist Paul Foote gfoote2@illinois.edu, 217-244-1048. While in university facilities, continue to report any temperature-related issues regarding specific rooms or building spaces to the F&S Energy Management Control Center at fandsenergycomm@illinois.edu, 217-244-3783. Thanks for doing what you can to conserve energy this afternoon and support these important and urgent response efforts. Sincerely, Ehab Kamarah, Ph.D., P.Eng. |
