CLARIFICATION: Election Results: Presidential Search Committee
March 30, 2026 1:51 PM

Dear Campus Community,

A clarification regarding the previous message about the Search Committee to Assist in the Selection of the Next President.

The Urbana Senate election to identify Urbana faculty nominees for the Search Committee to Assist in the Selection of the Next President concluded on March 27, 2026. The Urbana faculty nominees listed below will be submitted to the Board of Trustees, via the University Senates Conference, for consideration by the Board of Trustees when seating faculty members on the presidential search committee.

There are eight seats on the presidential search committee reserved for faculty from all three universities combined. Only a subset of the nine Urbana faculty nominees will be seated on the search committee by vote of the Board of Trustees. Other constituencies from Urbana (including students, staff, and alumni), as well as constituencies from UIC and UIS, are in the process of making nominations. This announcement is only relevant to Urbana’s faculty nomination process.

The names listed below are the Urbana faculty nominees from whom the Board of Trustees will select three to serve on the presidential search committee.

  • Mark Cohen (Carle Illinois College of Medicine)
  • Gisela Sin (College of Liberal Arts & Sciences )
  • Jenny Amos (The Grainger College of Engineering)
  • Stephen Maren (College of Liberal Arts & Sciences)
  • Ann Yeung (College of Fine and Applied Arts)
  • Joseph Irudayaraj (The Grainger College of Engineering)
  • Rummana Alam (College of Law)
  • Mary Kalantzsis (College of Education)
  • Bonnie Mak (School of Information Sciences)

Kind Regards,
Senate Committee on Committees
